Warhawks fade as post season approaches

Germantown — Baseball coach Parrish Wagner believes that his team can still sort out the little things like not giving opponents extra outs and getting people home with less than two outs.
But the Warhawks had a hard time doing that last week in a pair of tough North Shore Conference losses.
Germantown rallied for three runs in the bottom of cheap nfl jerseys the seventh against West Bend East on July 8, but came up a run short in a 9-8 loss, and prior to that, they were handcuffed by Grafton's Milwaukee Brewers' draft choice Conor Fisk, who struck out 13 and allowed just three hits in a 7-0 decision on July 6.
"Against East, we battled back, but the big thing was that we gave up two extra outs (errors) and then came up one run short," Wagner said, "and in both the third and fifth innings we got a runner to second with no outs and couldn't get him home. We've got to come through in situations like that."
The defeats dropped the Warhawks to 10-14 overall and 7-10 in North Shore play. They closed out North Shore play with a make-up game against Grafton on Monday and then they will finish up regular season play at the Oconomowoc Legion on nfl jersey sale Thursday and then host Pius XI on Friday.
Both games are at 5:30 p.m.
Germantown earned the sixth seed in its own WIAA sectional bracket and will visit Sussex Hamilton in a 5:30 p.m. regional final tilt on July 20. The winner advances to sectional play back at the Dream Field on July 23 against the winner of second-seeded Brookfield East and seventh-seeded Slinger.
Menomonee Falls is the top seed in the sectional.
Germantown trailed 9-5 before it started its rally against East and had a runner on second when the final out was made. Eric Jordan had three hits including a home run while Jordan Infield also had two hits.
Grafton staked Fisk to a four-run lead in the first and that was more than he would need as the big power pitcher also had a good breaking ball and that was much more than the Warhawks could deal with. Brian Stemm had two of the Warhawks' three hits.
"I talked to a couple of (Grafton) people that night and they said that it was the best breaking ball he had all year," said Wagner. "He's a good-looking kid with a lot of potential. A lot of Buccaneers #99 jersey upside. I wish him luck (in the pros)."
Tyler Thicke pitched well with 10 strikeouts in five innings of work in a 3-0 loss to North Shore champion West Bend West on July 5. The Spartans' Jon Nick allowed the Warhawks only two hits.
